Eat REAL whole foods instead of the “fortified” ones. Most of the time, these foods have been stripped of their nutrients through refining and processing, only for them to be replaced by synthetic ones that are not very well absorbed by the body. Some fortified food items are downright pointless and a waste of your money.
Calcium fortified orange juice; calcium is barely even absorbed in the presence of vitamin C! Some foods are unnecessarily fortified with large doses, like calcium, which can actually reduce magnesium levels, causing more harm than good in people who are already magnesium deficient. Stick to whole foods that contain their nutrients in perfect harmony, and that are minimally processed.
