Therapeutic Approaches I Offer
Â
Below, you’ll find a brief overview of the therapeutic approaches I work with. These descriptions are here for those who like to understand the process ahead of time.
And if you’re unsure where to begin, that’s completely fine. Together, we’ll explore what approach feels most supportive for where you are right now.
Â
In addition to being informed in traditional approaches to counselling (CBT, Narrative, DBT, and Solution Focussed), my passion lies in sharing intuitive, experiential, root-cause and holistic approaches to healing that move beyond talk therapy. I weave together different modalities as needed, creating an integrative and grounded approach that’s personalized to you and honours the full complexity of your lived experience.
Holistic Therapy
Holistic Therapy is a practice dedicated to addressing the Whole Person, not just a set of symptoms. This modality operates on the principle that the mind, body, and spirit are fundamentally interconnected; when one aspect of our being is out of balance, it impacts all the others. We move beyond traditional talk therapy to consider every facet of your life that contributes to your well-being, utilizing a comprehensive, person-centered approach that integrates various evidence-based strategies to foster healing and sustainable wellness. True mental health is deeply intertwined with physical and environmental factors, so your therapy journey may incorporate working on mental and emotional well-being, leveraging the powerful link between physical health (body) and mood, and supporting your search for meaning and purpose (spirit). This includes collaborating on optimizing essential pillars of health, such as nutrition, sleep hygiene, stress management, and considering how your physical surroundings and exposure to toxins might influence your overall health. By integrating all these elements, our holistic approach empowers you to cultivate balance, resilience, and a profound sense of whole-person wellness.
Trauma-Informed Therapy
Trauma-Informed Therapy is a compassionate, strength-based approach that honours how past experiences shape the brain, body, and nervous system. It centres around safety, choice, and collaboration so you always feel in control of your healing process. In our work together, I create a predictable and grounded environment, set clear boundaries, and move at a pace that feels right for you. We explore trauma responses with curiosity—not judgment—and bring awareness to how they show up in your thoughts, emotions, relationships, and body. This approach also recognizes the role of culture, identity, and lived experience in how trauma is carried and expressed. By focusing on your inner strengths and resilience, trauma-informed therapy helps you rebuild trust in yourself, regain a sense of agency, and gently unwind the emotional and physical patterns that have been holding you back. It is a steady, empowering path toward safety, connection, and a renewed sense of balance in your life.
Trauma is not what happened to you. Trauma is what happens inside of you as a result of what happened to you.

Internal Family Systems Therapy
Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy is a trauma-informed approach that helps us understand the different parts we carry within—our Managers who try to stay in control, our Firefighters who react quickly to soothe distress, and our Exiles who hold the weight of old hurt, fear, and shame. These “parts” of our psyche exist in all of us, and while they’ve taken on roles meant to protect us, they can sometimes keep us stuck in patterns that no longer serve our wellbeing. In IFS, we don’t judge or push any part away; there are no bad parts. Instead, we learn to meet each one with curiosity and kindness, allowing it to share its story at a pace that feels safe. At the center of this inner system is the “Self”—your calm, wise, unbroken core—which can never be harmed or damaged, no matter what you’ve lived through. As we strengthen your connection to Self, your parts begin to relax, trust, and work together, creating space for deep healing, especially around trauma and shame. While IFS is a modern, evidenced-based therapeutic model, the essence of parts work is ancient—rooted in shamanic traditions and soul-retrieval practices that have supported human healing for generations. This process brings a sense of inner harmony, clarity, and wholeness, helping you move forward with more ease and self-compassion.
Somatic Therapy
Somatic Therapy is a body-based approach that gently supports the nervous system in finding greater regulation and safety. As a Somatic Experiencing (SE)–informed practitioner, I work with both top-down and bottom-up processes, recognizing that the body often holds implicit memories—sensations, gestures, and patterns formed long before we had words. SE teaches us to track the felt sense, notice subtle shifts, and move at a pace the nervous system can truly handle. By slowing down and listening to the language of the body, we begin to notice where survival energy is stuck and where tension is asking to unwind. Using grounding, resourcing, micro-movement, and pendulation, we help the body complete what was once overwhelming, allowing stress, trauma, and long-held patterns to reorganize naturally. This work doesn’t force anything; it follows the body’s own wisdom, inviting small moments of expansion, settling, and relief. Over time, Somatic Therapy brings us into deeper connection with ourselves—more regulated, more present, and more able to move through life with ease and resilience.

Person-Centered Therapy
Person-Centered Therapy is a gentle, humanistic approach that honours your innate capacity to heal and grow when you feel deeply seen, heard, and understood. In this space, you lead the way. My role is to offer presence, empathy, and non-judgment—creating a safe, compassionate environment where your inner wisdom can emerge. Rather than directing or fixing, this approach trusts the natural unfolding of your truth, allowing you to reconnect with your authentic self and move toward greater clarity, resilience, and self-trust.
Emotional Freedom Therapy
Emotional Freedom Therapy is a gentle, energy-based practice that uses emotional freedom technique (EFT), also know as tapping, to help clear emotional blockages and restore harmony throughout the body. By lightly tapping on specific acupressure points on the body, we signal the nervous system to soften and settle, making room for calm, clarity, and deeper self-connection. As we focus on the issue at hand, this process invites old wounds, stress responses, and limiting patterns to loosen their grip so they can be acknowledged and released with compassion. Tapping brings us back into our bodies, into the present moment, and into a more balanced state where healing can unfold naturally. It doesn’t require force—just presence, willingness, and curiosity. Over time, this practice helps you reclaim a greater sense of emotional freedom, opening space for peace, resilience, and authentic transformation.
Indigenous Ways of Knowing
My therapeutic approach integrates Indigenous Ways of Knowing and elements of Shamanism, drawing on traditional healing practices, ceremony, and ritual. This method acknowledges the interconnectedness of mind, body, spirit, nature, and community, offering a holistic and culturally responsive pathway to healing. Guided by the four quadrants of the medicine wheel—physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual—I support you in restoring balance by touching on the areas that need attention when one quadrant is out of harmony. Narrative and traditional storytelling can help us process experiences, name our trauma, and journey through self-discovery within social and historical contexts. Connection to land and nature-based activities remind us that the natural world can act as a “co-therapist”, supporting regulation, clarity, and deep reconnection. Symbolism and imagery from dreams, art, and nature are woven in to access the unconscious and facilitate meaningful transformation. This approach also creates space to explore intergenerational trauma, legacy burdens, ancestral roots, and collective wounds—processing and integrating them for lasting generational healing. By incorporating Indigenous wisdom, this modality offers a unique and heartfelt path toward self-discovery, trauma resolution, and personal transformation.
To understand nature as a teacher, we must first realize that we are nature.

Existential Therapy
Existential Therapy is an invitation to sit with life’s big, sometimes uncomfortable questions: Why am I here? What gives my life meaning? How do I navigate uncertainty, loss, death, and the responsibility that comes with choosing my own path? This approach doesn’t hand you answers; it offers space to explore your own, to notice where you may be going through the motions and where you can consciously step into your life. Existential Therapy teaches us that, even in the face of life’s struggles, we have the power to choose how we respond. It asks you to face the truths of being human—the impermanence, the unknown, the solitude—while discovering that within those very challenges lies the power to create meaning, connection, and purpose. Existential therapy is less about fixing problems and more about helping you awaken to your own freedom, live with authenticity, and move through life with courage, curiosity, and a sense of intentionality that comes from your own heart.
Psychedelic Preparation & Integration Therapy
There has been a renewed interest in the healing potential of plant medicines and psychedelics, and research on their therapeutic use continues to grow. What is often overlooked, however, is what happens before and after the ceremony—the preparation and integration phases—which is where the “real” work of transformation begins. As a Certified Somatic Plant Medicine Integration Practitioner, I provide guidance and support to help you make sense of, process, and embody the insights and emotions that arise from these experiences. Psychedelic Preparation & Integration therapy does not involve administering or facilitating psychedelic substances; rather, it focuses entirely on supporting you before or after your journey, whether that is weeks, months, or even years later. Psychedelic experiences can be profound, offering emotional breakthroughs, deep insights, and healing—but they can also bring unexpected or challenging emotions, memories, and questions. Without careful integration, these experiences may overwhelm us or fade before their lessons take root. The ceremony itself is only the beginning; true transformation comes as the insights gained are applied, embodied, and woven into your daily life. Held with safety, care, and trauma-informed support, integration helps these experiences become a living reality, grounding your mind, body, and spirit while fostering lasting growth, resilience, and wellbeing.
Psychonutrition
As part of my integrative counselling approach, I offer nutrition-informed guidance for clients who want to understand how food, stress, emotions, and the nervous system interact. This is not a separate nutrition service, but a supportive lens woven into therapy when relevant—exploring food–mood patterns, emotional eating, and nourishment from a holistic, trauma-informed perspective. My psychonutrition approach weaves nutritional awareness into counselling in a gentle, trauma-informed way. Rather than focusing on diets or prescriptive plans, we explore the emotional, behavioural, and nervous-system patterns that shape your relationship with food and nourishment. Together, we look at factors such as stress, mood, energy, digestion, and cultural or family food histories, and how they influence your overall wellbeing. This integrative perspective supports the whole person—mind, body, and lived experience—and offers a compassionate pathway to rebuilding balanced, intuitive nourishment. You are always in control of whether or not we integrate this aspect into your sessions.
