5 Recipes a Successful Workout
Apr 28, 2016
The most successful workout is accomplished through 5 easy concepts that you need to consider. Sure strength, power, and endurance are the common things you will think of and see with most articles, but there is more to this than you think. The purpose of a workout is to receive benefits some way or another. However, you only get these benefits through a proper workout. Let’s outline 5 things to take a hard look at.
This is a guest post by Demmy James, a fitness buff as well as strength and conditioning specialist. We hope that you find it enjoyable and informative.
1. The Sustainability to Succeed
Sustainability is the ability to endure through anything thrown your way. In terms of your workout, you need to be able to endure the strains and force placed on your body and push past the fatigue. Your workout motivation plays a big role in all your training efforts and needs to be at a high state in order to keep your focus on the task at hand.
Another part of sustainability is to be able to remain productive. This means you should be able to keep your workout constantly under progression. You can accomplish this by allowing your body to recover and rest, which gives your muscles the time to repair and grow properly. Without this your body will eventually fail quickly into the following workout. Eat, sleep, and take time to rest.
2. Consistency in Your Workout is Paramount
Being consistent means you give 100% effort in every workout you perform. This is not easy to accomplish because most people want to cheat a little and skip a few repetitions. There is no harm in this, right? Well in the long run it begins to become a trend, and your 100% workout effort is no longer consistent. Eventually it turns into 75%, and then 50% until it just drops to no motivation for performing any workout routines.
You must also think of consistency as training each week. Your only breaks would be for emergencies or maybe a vacation you have planned. But if you are at home just not wanting to work out for a week then beware. This could become a bad habit that becomes consistent in a “not-so-good” way.
3. Hard Work Always Pays Off
Hard work is when you try to go above and beyond how you performed the day or week prior. You can accomplish this by motivating yourself to reach the goals you have set in place. You probably know the old saying pretty well, so put forth the effort and receive the benefits of working hard during your workout.
An example would be while running. You set your goal to 60 minutes, which is 10 minutes higher than your previous workout. You reach 55 minutes and want to settle for this achievement, but if you push yourself to work harder then you can reach that 60 minute goal. Hard work is obviously not easy, but in the end it is well worth everything put into your workout.
4. Simplicity is Usually the Best Thing for Every Workout
Simplicity means that you basically keep everything to the minimum. Why perform 100 pushups in a row knowing you will fail when you can perform x4 sets of 25 pushups that allow you to accomplish the amount set. Your body will recognize the amount of repetitions regardless of the choice you make.
A simple way to look at your workout would be to use basic exercises as well. Some exercises being shown these days are a little unnecessary when you could perform something as simple as squats. Nothing fancy is needed to get that great leg workout in, which also applies to all exercise variations as well.
5. Patience is Your Strongest Tool to Work On
Patience is the key to all successes to come in your life. Ancient wisdom teaches us that patience is a highly regarded virtue amongst higher individuals. In terms of your workout, patience would be the ability to know that benefits will come soon enough. But you have to have the capacity to wait and see these results in a month or two. Nothing comes quickly in the world of health.
Slow steady progress is not only the way to look at it, but also the reason why you will stay healthy through it all. For example, a person losing 20lbs. of weight in one week is doing something that is probably unhealthy and possibly harmful for their body. Having the patience to reach this goal in 4-6 weeks is better because you don’t really have any risks of injury or harm.
Use this Information and Apply it to Your Workout
Your workout depends on these 5 recipes in order to become a successful workout. Surely some benefits will be seen during the beginning stages without these concepts in mind, but slowly you will start to realize that more needs to be done if you want to keep your training benefits consistently coming. Endure through each workout and work hard to achieve your goals. Patiently keep forth the effort and you will feel more fulfilled with your benefits to come.
