Sunshine is the best source of vitamin D, but it does not mean you should stay under the sun for too long. You should not simply bask by the beach and let the sun burn your skin. Moderation is one of the best ways to enjoy the sun without hurting yourself. You can avoid getting too much sunshine by staying indoors during the middle of the day when the sun is at its peak. If you have to be outside during this time, it would be best to stay under a shade, like an umbrella or a large brimmed hat. Also, you should cover exposed skin by wearing loose clothing. During those times when it is inevitable to go out in the heat, and you have to wear sunscreen, you should avoid the commercial ones.

You can create your own homemade sunscreen to avoid melanoma, which its commercial counterparts can give you. This way, you can still reap all the benefits that sunshine can give you, including that perfect tan you long for this summer. This homemade sunscreen can even help you get rid of the dull skin complexion. Some of the ingredients in this homemade sunscreen can even be wonderful natural anti-aging skin care elements. There are various natural ingredients like essential oils and butter that can give you the minimum amount of protection from the sun. But if you add all these ingredients to your homemade sunscreen mix, you will have the best natural skin care for your summer frolic fun.

If you want to enjoy the sun with the best natural skin care, here are the ingredients you need:

  1. Coconut oil. This tropical wonder has natural SPF properties that can protect your skin from the sun.
  1. Shea Butter. This comes from a tree in Central Africa. Also called Karite, this is an amazing skin softening emollient. It has unique fatty acids and incredible moisturizing qualities. This ingredient can treat dry skin, skin rashes, and many other skin damages. This even has natural anti-aging skin care These capabilities make it perfect for your homemade sunscreen mix.
  1. Jojoba, Sesame, or Sunflower Oil. These oils have natural sun protection capabilities. They are also easily absorbed into the skin, which makes them a wonderful addition to your homemade sunscreen.
  1. Vitamin E Oil. This extract can help nourish and moisturize skin. This can help you get rid of the dull skin. It can also protect your skin from the adverse effects and cell mutation that the sun can inflict on your skin. It can also preserve your homemade sunscreen.
  1. 5. 30 drops essential oils. Eucalyptus is an essential oil that has very low natural SPF. If you use a one that has over SPF 8, then your skin cannot produce Vitamin D properly. This may lead to Vitamin D deficiency. This makes Eucalyptus a perfect sunscreen ingredient. Another essential oil is lavender, which can soothe and repair your skin effectively. Peppermint has cooling qualities that can quell the sunburn. To complete the 30 drops, you can put 15 drops of lavender, 10 drops of eucalyptus, and 5 drops of peppermint.
  1. Zinc oxide powder (uncoated, non-nano zinc). This particle stays on the superficial part of your skin, absorbing UVA and UVB rays from there. This efficiently protects the skin below. This is also non-toxic and non-irritating.

How to Mix

Add the first three ingredients to a makeshift double boiler. Heat until the Shea butter is properly melted. After that, remove it from the double boiler and allow it to cool down. Add the zinc oxide, the essential oil, and the vitamin E oil into the mix. Stir them well until they are mixed. Put them in a dark jar and place it in the refrigerator. Now, you got yourself the best natural skin care homemade sunscreen.

Apply the mix on the exposed skin, and apply every hour. Also, apply it every time it is washed off after swimming or sweating. Remember, moderation is still key. Do not stay under the sun for too long.
