Camping Tips for A Well Prepared Camper
Dec 24, 2015
Most tourists love to go on holiday to new places in order to get a break from a possible monotonous or overworked life. It’s great to take the time to relax with family and friends. Then there are those who are passionate adventurers and love taking up the challenge of “true” camping – “roughing it up” style. Camping may not always be as easy as portrayed in movies and TV series. In real life, apart from the bonfire, the tent and most importantly, the food, are key in planning. And there are plenty of other aspects that need your attention when preparing for an enjoyable camping trip. If you are one of those nature loving, camp style individuals gearing up for a proper trip to nature, this article is a must read. Camping is a task, easier said than done, but it can be so invigorating and rejuvenating when going into it well prepared. Let us have a look at what to keep in mind while planning a camping trip.

Go Camping But Not Before You Read These Tips
-
Get A Shelter Over Your Head Before Darkness
Shelter is an important aspect that needs to be taken care of immediately upon arriving at your campsite. It gets difficult to select a suitable location and set up a tent in the dark. Choose a flat and dry location that you find appealing for your tent or hammock and make all the arrangements for the night. Make sure you bring shelter (tent, hammock, etc) that suits your needs well and that is tested beforehand, to prevent your camping trip from becoming a nightmare. Leave a few zippers slightly open, to reduce moisture build up inside your tent, look into getting rain protection and consider purchasing a bug net so you can stay comfortable and get good rest.
-
Pick Sleeping Covers and Attire That Are Appropriate For the Season
Obviously, nobody likes to sweat or shiver at night. There could be nothing worse than freezing your bum off on a cold night, without suitable clothing or weather specific coverings. So, make sure your sleeping bag is season appropriate which ensures a relaxing sleep after an exhausting day, and that you have clothing for all weather situations. Also, consider the weight of your sleeping bag so that you do not feel burdened by it throughout your camping journey.
-
Pack Only Necessary Eatables
Do not carry entire boxes of eatables or food you don’t normally enjoy along with you. Part of the joy of camping is the food, which you may also be able to find around your spot – fish, berries, etc. And bring what you like to eat on a regular basis. Plan well and travel light - carry only the amounts of food you’ll require for the duration of your camping trip. Clean drinking water should always be available for you, so bring water bottles or find a spring. You can also carry packets of iodine to sanitize the water available at campsites.
-
Leave No Waste When You Depart
This is a basic concept every human being needs to respect – do not pollute. That means leaving the spot as you found it by not leaving any of your waste items behind. This spoils the beauty of nature. You may keep separate poly bags to pack your waste material so that you can dispose of them in suitable trash disposal areas, but not at the campground. If composting and disposal of eatables is allowed, food scraps can be given back to plants and animals when you depart.
-
Beware of Poisonous Plants and Insects
While setting up your tent, check the area for any wasp, bee nests, ants, snakes, etc. Also, become familiar with and stay away from any poisonous vegetation, which may cause skin irritation. Preferably, apply a natural insect repellant and wear full sleeve shirts and trousers as a precautionary measure (if weather permits). After all, you do not want to ruin your camping trip owing to your carelessness.
These are just a few tips, but some of the important ones. Camping is the best way to explore and appreciate the natural beauty of our beautiful planet. Connect yourself with the natural world (which we are ultimately a part of) and experience simple living without daily luxuries. Check out sightseeing tours in your area. Plan a camping trip with your family or friends and gift yourself a chance to bond with them in an entirely new way.
