How a Jogging Stroller Can Help You Stay Fit and Healthy
May 17, 2016
Parenting is definitely not something suitable for the faint of heart. It not only requires a tremendous amount of effort, energy and patience, but at times, parenting also mean you’d have to give up certain things for the sake of your children. One thing however, that is not something you should give up regardless of where you are in your life, is your health. That is where a jogging stroller comes in.
This is a guest post by Evelyn Taylor, a health writer and expert on jogging strollers. We hope that you find it enjoyable and informative.
I’m a big person on quotes, so I’d like to share one from the Dalai Lama:
“Man. Because he sacrifices his health in order to make money. Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health.…..”
When I first saw this quote, it resonated well with me. I have a full-time job, am a wife, and the mother of three kids, so the weekdays are almost always busy – so much so that I make excuses to not get my daily exercise. I know it isn’t just me; the fact is that many of us are living in a world where our jobs and careers feel like they’re the most important parts of lives, which is certainly untrue.
Fortunately for me, in the past few months, with some clarity, I have been able to get in my exercise almost every day with the use of a jogging stroller. The turning point for me was when I had this moment of realization that by not exercising daily, I am not only the one that is affected, but I’m also affecting those around me – including my kids. I wanted to set a good example to my kids, rather than just be a couch potato right after work.
So, nowadays, my husband and I go for a jog with our kids in a double jogging stroller and a jogging stroller in the evening.
Here are 3 ways how a jogging stroller can help you stay fit and healthy as a parent:
It Keeps You Accountable
For a parent, one of the best ways to keep myself accountable is by making my kids my accountability partners. What this means is that whenever I feel like not doing something which I know deep down is beneficial, I always ask myself:
“What would my kids want me to do? Am I setting a good example to them?”
Also, before we got our jogging strollers, the excuse I always made was:
“I can’t really leave the house because I need to take care of my kids.”
Well now, with our jogging strollers, and with my kids being my accountability partners, this is no more an excuse! I highly recommend parents trying out a jogging stroller if you’re trying to live a more active lifestyle.

You and Your Kids Will Enjoy It
We’ve done exercise routines in our home before, but nothing beats going outside, and soaking up some fresh air. Not only have I found my kids to be much more intrigued by the outside world (obviously), but I also truly believe they feel happier.
As for parents, my husband and I both agreed that the feeling we get after we go out for a jog is a pretty awesome feeling! Since we also feel much more energized and refreshed after the jog, we’re thinking of doing it in the mornings now - that way, we’ll feel energized in the morning to power through the day. And because we enjoy it so much, we always look forward to that time of day when we, as a whole family, would go out for a jog with our jogging strollers.
Make a Game Out of It
Sometimes we just need that extra push to get started and if the first two tips weren’t enough to get you committed to exercising with your jogging stroller, this one should!
This idea started a few weeks back when the company I work at started a 6-week “Steps Challenge.” The goal was to at least hit 10,000 steps a day and the person with the most steps after 40 days would win the challenge. Naturally, because most people are competitive by nature, even coworkers who usually do not workout made an effort to start an exercise routine. And besides, it’s fun!
Similarly for jogging strollers, I’d recommend joining or starting a group at Meet Up to connect with like-minded parents. Can you imagine how fun it would be to have a parent jogging group?
Get Started Now and Don’t Give Up
Hopefully these three tips will help you realize what great invention jogging strollers are as well as how you can start implementing an exercise routine with your kid(s) in a jogging stroller.
Lastly, if you don’t live a very active lifestyle to begin with, implementing such an exercise routine can be extremely challenging. My only advice would be to don’t give up and do it consistently – it takes about 2 months to form a new habit. Remember that everyone has to start from somewhere, so don’t feel discouraged!
